- Renovations

Dylan and his team was absolutely amazing! It was my first major reno doing a full gut renovation of both main and ensuite bathrooms, as well as completely changing all our lighting in our apartment to downlights, and having patching and additional paint work done too.
Dylan was responsive, and attentive from the first call when discussing a quote. He had all the details covered (his quote had amazing detail, which gave me a lot of comfort going into it). And Dylan also had great overall management of the project for me which gave me peace of mind to leave things with him.
So, whenever I had a question and texted him, he answered promptly and always was a step ahead of me and had it covered. He was flexible when I had some changes in mind, was adaptive and considerate when thinking about protective materials (as we were living in our apartment while the renos took place), and had grit to find a way a solution when a problem hit us at the end with the vanity.
Overall, I would highly recommend Dylan and his team! No regrets! if I could give 6 stars I would!

Yes you can renovate a bathroom in an apartment block in Sydney
Wentworth Point is one of the newest suburbs in Sydney where 99% of all properties are units. It is located in central Sydney, just up the road from Sydney Olympic Park & across the river from Rhodes. The council recently built Bennelong Bridge which connects Wentworth Point to Rhodes making it easy to walk across to go shopping or get public transport. Payce built the development in the early 2000’s so the interior styling is now quite dated and around twenty years old.
The owners of this unit in Wentworth Point engaged Passion Built to provide one of our fixed price bathroom renovation quotations. They wanted to completely renovate both of their bathrooms & remove the dark chocolate colour palette to give both rooms a more modern, magazine-style feeling.
The main bathroom already had a double vanity & combination shower with bath tub up against the wall. The ensuite had a single vanity & walk in shower. In 2000 this would have felt fairly modern for an interior design choice, but in 2022 people want brighter, lighter colour palettes in their bathrooms.
So this renovation project was simply focused on updating both bathrooms to give them a trendy, modern look.

Getting a small bathroom renovated in an apartment block
There are not too many renovation companies in Sydney that specialise in renovating small bathrooms, but we enjoy doing it. Renovating in tiny spaces is a real challenge and puts our skills to the test every time.
Once the owners agreed to the final scope of work and our free fixed price quotation we commenced the renovation work on the property. The interior design choices included light grey subway tile feature walls, Terrazzo look floor tiles, the latest ABI Interiors tapware and Caroma Urbane back to wall toilet suite. What really sets off both bathrooms is the custom made timber vanity from ADP. The soft wood is a nice warm touch and really transforms the look of the bathrooms from their cold, dark brown look from before.
This is the type of bathroom that would easily fill a magazine for interior design ideas. It is a classic look that will date really nicely & add value to their unit long term.
Bathroom with large vanity, bath and shower combo
For the main bathroom once we demolished the room we had to work on relocating the taps to be on the wall under the windows. We cut into the walls so that the piping could be run and used our laser alignment equipment to make sure everything was placed perfectly. The rest of the floor layout would remain the same, it was a one way entry with the ultra wide wall hung timber vanity on the left, toilet on the right with the combination bath & shower on the far wall.
You can immediately see how warm the room feels as soon as you walk in compared to the old bathroom styling. It is the combination of soft grey tiles, the Terrazzo look floor tiles and of course the hero which is the timber vanity unit. It is a colour palette that is fairly neutral, welcoming and blends nicely to create a very modern looking bathroom interior design. We also like the bowl style sink, it reduces the visual bulk of the vanity, is practical to use & keep clean as well.
Any unit in Wentworth Point could get their bathroom or kitchen renovated which would make it easier to rent and even improve its value for owners thinking of selling. It would help it stand out from all the others that look the same with their twenty year old designs.
Small ensuite bathroom with walk in shower with frameless screen
To make sure the unit had a consistent style & interior design, all the same materials were used in the small ensuite bathroom as well. A really simple layout with the shower at the far end with the frameless custom made glass screen. It makes the room feel bigger than it is because there is no visual lines or ‘blocks’. Before there was a chrome frame that created an immediate visual border which made the room feel smaller when combined with the dark coloured tiling. Now it is bright, light & feels spacious.
Renovating advise for small bathrooms
WALL HUNG VANITY UNIT
If you have read some of our other project stories you would have already seen us mention the benefit of using wall hung vanities. Here is another example where it creates a modern feel while making the room feel larger.
The visibility of the floor tiling all the way to the wall visually creates the impression of more space in the room. Using a single colour tile also creates a seamless transition from floor to wall as well.
The use of timber adds warmth to these rooms vs using standard laminate cupboards & compliments the soft grey wall tiling.
Frameless glass shower screens
You can buy cheap shower screens at places like Bunnings, but look how great a custom made frameless shower screen looks. Instead of trying to fit a standard size screen into the room, you can have whatever you like made to size.
So for this bathroom they could have placed the screen on the other side of the window to create a double person shower if they wanted to.
The frameless design is easier to keep clean because there are less surfaces, edges or joins for soap scum, shampoo or other debris to collect.
Double head shower mixers
Having a double head mixer in the shower is pretty common for new bathroom renovations. In this instance the combination bath and shower means it can be used for adults or also for kids. Having the second handheld shower makes it easy to wash small children sitting in the bath. Even more practicality comes to cleaning where you can use it to wash water onto the glass or tiles to keep them clean.
